About Mona Browne
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), National Certified Counselor (NCC)
and Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN).
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Early in my professional career, I worked as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist in a hospital, for a nutrition education organization and in my own consulting business. My passion was translating nutrition science into practical advice for healthy food choices as part of a wellness lifestyle. I wrote for women’s magazines and the popular press, and advised food companies and trade groups.
I received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University in 2012. I currently work as an online psychotherapist after making the switch from a traditional private practice. I worked and trained as a clinician at the Metropolitan Center for Mental Health and the Karen Horney Clinic, two well-known mental health organizations in Manhattan. My passion is helping adults struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional distress, relationship issues, parenting concerns and difficult life transitions.
In addition to professional licensure, I regularly attend continuing education seminars to deepen my practice of psychotherapy. I have completed specialized clinical training in the treatment of postpartum depression and anxiety with the Postpartum Stress Center, Postpartum Support International and the Seleni Institute. I have also completed coursework at the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (MITPP) and the American Institute of Psychoanalysis (AIP).
